60 years of sports: the 2019 Spartakiad began

The tradition of holding intra-plant sports competitions originated at Sintez JSC in the early years of the company's foundation.

The end of October 2019 was marked by the beginning of the new sports competition – the Spartakiad – held annually at the Sintez JSC plant. The first event was the chess tournament with the participation of 8 teams representing various departments of the enterprise. The Logistics Department won the tournament by scoring only one point more than the teams competing for the Repair Shop and Tool Shop departments.

The tradition of holding corporate sports competitions originated at the plant as far back as 1959, when one of the employees – Vyacheslav Khamandritov – put together a Physical Culture Team. Nowadays the Spartakiad means competitions in ten kinds of sports: skiing, biathlon, air rifle shooting, swimming, orienteering and others. Participants can also prove their results meet the Ready for Labor and Defense physical training standards – this means they will get extra points when it will come to summarizing the results of the sports season.

Sintez JSC holds most of the competitions on its own territory. For this specific purpose, the company set up its own shooting range and beach volleyball court, and has a ski run and a biathlon track prepared in winter. The sports events are usually held at lunchtime or on days off, so that all employees interested could take part in the competitions in their free time. Once the final results of the competition are determined, the organizers award the winners in individual and team events.

"About 350 employees take part in the Spartakiad every year," says Director General Sergey Klykov. – This is a tradition established over the years; it is part of our corporate culture. We are proud of our athletes and wish them best of luck in the contest."

The next stage of the 2019-2020 Spartakiad (the mini-football tournament) is to take place in November. The competition will end in September 2020.
